As happy as I am for Germany, and as envious as I am of you, Mr. McFadyen, I have to ask, when is the next US tour, and how can we get you to Cincinnati? Or Indy? Or hell, I'll take Chicago! (I can imagine Cincy may not make your top ten--or twenty--list of cities to visit, but we'd love to have you!). Have a wonderful and safe trip! Your non-German fans will settle for awesome pictures upon your return. ;)

Cool that you are coming to Germany! It's a great country. I love it here! :)

How does something like this happen, is it the publisher that says. Hey, you are going to Germany next month to promote, or do you ask for an event like this yourself?

and is this your first trip to Europe? I remember that when my American friend came to Europe for the first time she was so excited because everything was so different.

@Verena, Toll dass du in der Nähe von München wonht. Ich möchte gerne München besuchen aber ich wohne in der Nähe von Trier :( Hier ist es auch schon aber ich wohne auf ein Berg und habe kein auto!

Still pretty busy at the moment, but wanted to respond to your comments before time gets the best of me!

Kim, were you at Unna? I sincerely apologize for not seeking you out, but I hope you enjoyed it. I forgot to check this blog before everything got crazy, or I would have made a point of it.

Wrowland, I hope to get around in the US more soon. We'll have to see. But yes, I will share photos! :)

Verena, I'm always happy to come to Germany. The people here have been so gracious, and the readers so supportive and enthusiastic. I suppose I've had this cliched view of the "stoic Germans", but you guys are an emotional, passionate bunch. I don't write in a vacuum; I never know if it's a good book until someone reads it, so meeting readers is always encouraging. And I did get your email... I'm really, historically bad with my email response time. My continuing apologies. I just reread it, you're too kind. Please tell your parents to come see me when I'm in Munich, and to let me know it's "them." I'm happy to sign any book put in front of me and will make sure to give you a special inscription.

Brigitte, it's all set up by the publisher. I just do as I'm told. :) No, it's not my first trip to Europe by far, but it's my first real visit to Germany. I was in Koln for a day last year, but I've never really "seen" this country. We've been going everywhere by car, so I've gotten to see a lot of the countryside, and I've been peppering my guide with questions about everything. I'm enjoying it, aside from the fact that Germany appears to be bad for my liver...

I wish more Americans would travel. I got a nasty email recently, and the writer commented about how I was "only succeeding overseas", as if the USA is the world entire. It made me shake my head and sigh. I'll take my readers in all nationalities, thank you, and right now - Germany is being very, very kind to me.

Gotta run. I posted a new entry about Germany so far, and I'll finish it all when I get back home.

Dear Cody,
I discovered your work 3 weeks ago, when my husband bought me a book..Until now I have read 2 books, and I was really sad when I saw i missed your tour through Germany. I would surely have come to Unna, since I am only 2 hours away from it.
Thank you for your wonderful books, maybe wonderful is not the right word for it, but I love reading them and can´t stop until one is finished, although I was often crying at some special scenes.
But however, it was crying about the world we live in, but I love living most of the time.
All the best for your work and your family and personal life,
Petra from Bonn
